Our attorneys assist individuals and married couples with asset transfers to, and re-titling of property with, other family members in anticipation of qualifying clients for Medicaid (Mass Health) long term care (nursing home) benefits. Our attorneys typically work with clients in their mid-to-elder years who are in reasonably good health and who are considering options well in advance of any nursing home admissions or clients’ efforts to qualify for governmental long-term care benefits. If a prospective or current client is in the hospital, anticipates a lengthy stay in a nursing home upon discharge from the hospital or is already in a nursing home, our attorneys generally refer such “crisis” planning matters to other attorneys outside the firm who regularly handle these types of cases.
